Can I have sex before marriage? 

I’ll teach you wisdom ways and lead you in straight paths. When you walk, you won’t be held back. When you run, you won’t stumble.

Proverbs 4:11-12

One day a young boy asked his father, “Dad why don’t you give me one of your cars? His Dad said to him “son it all belongs to you but when you grow up, I’ll give you one. The boy looked at his Dad and frowned deeply. The next few days he asked his Dad “I checked up the mirror and I have grown much more taller, can I have my car now? His Dad looked at him and said “Son keep looking at the mirror”. 

Sex is a beautiful gift from God but many people receive it too early and cringe when the repercussions arises. Note this, whatever is given too early or cheaply isn’t esteemed much. Hence you must be aware that keeping back this amazing gift until the right time helps the avoidance of so many problems.

Here are some reasons why sex should be kept until marriage:

1. It is better to have long term friends than numerous short term sex partners.

2. Sex doesn’t reveal the depth of love. It only reveals lust, indiscipline and haste 

3. Remember this, physical attraction wears off

4. That which is given too easily is esteemed lightly 

5. During unprotected sex, sexually transmitted diseases may be transmitted

Sex is a gift but don’t give it out until the confines of marriage. 

Action point:

Ask the Lord to help you wait to have sex in the confines of marriage 

Make sure you refrain from sexual temptations and ask God to strengthen you.
