Chain series (Episode 2)
Tosin grew up on the streets of Ibadan.
She was totally ravaged by the perplexities of no mother, father or relative. Tosin grew up from nothing and strived from left overs and hand-overs from kind people. Just like the wind has no direction, so was Tosin’s life; directionless, wayward, and fruitless.
It took Tosin some years of maturity to understand that her life was different from the rich kids she saw in luscious cars and expensive wears. She was just a street child, homeless, lonely and hungry.
Then one cold evening, as cold as the waters dripping from the rocks from far west; she met Tamie. The dark tall handsome young guy who smelled of tired money and withering class. Tamie was the beginning and end of the story she had not even began living. On that famous day, she was doing her normal search for food and water. He called her by a name she didn’t understand “Angel”....
Angel I’ve been searching for you for so long!! Come here, your house is prepared for you”
What could a 15year old hungry girl think but run into his arm for warmth. Tosin dreamt of becoming loved and accepted, she wanted to understand family, and warmth. The love she sought was the death she feared.
The tireless Ibadan drivers kept pushing through with their trucks but all she heard was “Angel”. That was the name he called her till his death.
He drove away into an estate and he kept telling her in Yoruba, “Angel you would be loved here, people will accept you; you would have all that you need”.
The car got to a stop and Tosin jumped out of the car with her lips spreading from left to right like butter on bread. She whispered “Is this heaven”.
The reality of reality would soon open up to her.
Would this be home for Tosin or the end of the beginning of her life.
To be continued....
I would tell you more about the journey of Tosin’s life in the next episode
