Is Polygamy a cultural affliction or a spiritual affliction?

So many days have gone by since the event of Yul Edochie’s second marriage became public. The reaction of people about the issue on polygamy has provoked so many unanswered questions in my mind. 

Is polygamy spiritual or cultural? 

This is because so many women have spent years praying against strange women and cheating husbands. Is this phenomenon a cultural affliction or a spiritual affliction?
