Do not look behind
As aa child, I pitied Lots wife so much. I wanted her story to end differently, I didn’t want her to be turned into a pillar of salt. When reading the Bible or hearing that story, I usually would wish that it ended differently.
But I learnt that we can always choose to look behind or move ahead. In fact, all of what we become is tied to our ability to move or stay where we are.
When Lots wife was faced with a decision to move into a new place of safety, she was totally tied to the past, to what could have been or what she could have had. She remembered her beautiful home, her nice dresses and rich friends. At that point, destiny beckoned, it called abruptly that they depart far into a place of newness. A nation was about to be made from the inner wells of her being.
Lot himself had messed up by separating from his uncle Abraham. This was a time when God was about to show them mercy, to build them a nation and to separate them from what was ordinary to what was about to be an extraordinary adventure.
Guess what?? Lots wife got distracted, physically she was leaving but psychologically she was ready to return to dive into what she had known over a Miracle of a new day.
A Miracle of forgiveness, a new atmosphere of plenty, a harvest of rest could have have been theirs. We are not certain to what made her look behind but we know that it was something she once owned, the memories she was leaving behind began to beckon relentlessly that she return.
Most of us are like that, we earnestly refuse to move, we settle in wrong relationships and disastrous marriages because we refused to journey from where we had the most familiar comfort, the most familiar excitement and applause to what was really our portion.
Others end up in terrible jobs because of the absence of courage to move, to have the life that we could have had. Then the bulk of the population are just merely surviving without actually fulfilling the will of God for their lives.
If you had listened to God, you would not be at a point where your life is so armed with regrets. Lots wife is no other person than he that hears move and doesn’t move, and at the end of the day, they loose momentum and are filled with regrets. Move today.
