Know your boundaries
“If you come close to me, I’ll slap your butt”.
My sister told me about an event that happened recently where her colleague threatened to slap her butt if she comes close to him. When he was confronted about the demeaning impact of his statement, he began to laugh undermining the effect of his words. In older times, he usually uses his age to disregard any form of complaint against his character.
Some people would say the guy was joking but I must state clearly that jokes are subjective in nature, what may be funny to a liberal American may not be acceptable by a conservative German.
Just because you grew up in an environment where words are used as knives does does not mean you should overplay your realities on the objectivity of another persons experiences.
I even heard that this guy in question grabbed another colleagues butt, I’m wondering does he know that legal actions can be taken against him? Recently I heard that some ladies took a particular leader to court because of sexual harassment.
This is not a feminist agenda to attack on male folks but it is simply from a humanist point of view where people’s fundamental right should be respected, women should be treated as humans and not as sexual creatures and above all men are also prone to sexual harassment and cases of this nature should be addressed accordingly.
In every working environment, conflict is bound to occur but disagreements should not be deployed as a parameter to disregard the sexuality of womanhood. In situations where disagreements occur between the male folks, i doubt if sexuality is used as a basis for discord.
Why then do male folks use the physical and sexual outlook of women during disagreements...words like “she no even fine sef, see the kind body way you she get, madam shift your big butt”. Please this should stop and deliberate actions Should be undertaken to curb female harassment in a working environment.
We should promote mutual respect amongst colleagues but gender differences or age disparities should not be used to oppress people in the working environment.
