Bury the past

Vintage devotional

To enjoy your work and accept your lot in life-that is indeed a gift from God. People who do this rarely look back with sorrow at the past for God has given them reasons for joy.

Ecl 5:19-20

The past is past as long as you let it stay that way. You keep resurrecting dead memories when you reminisce on the mistakes you made and the words you left unsaid. Bury the past, bury the memories that came with it and bury your mistakes. According to the book Of Ecclesiastes, a principle to access joy is letting the past go.

You can’t change the past, you can’t take back a word you said. You can’t change the wrong things you did to your friend. All you need to do is forgive yourself and bury the past. As the sun sets, we must remind ourselves that yesterday is gone and today offers brighter possibilities than the past.

No matter what has happened, it is important that you move on. No matter who you’ve lost, it’s important you forget about it. Life is too short to waste it on the past.
