What exactly is life? 

What is this mystery called breathing? 

What does it mean to be alive? 

The feeling of the pangs of hunger or the lack of food? 

The desire to be loved and cherished? 

Or the feelings of being angry or hurt . Maybe it’s the want for affection.

What exactly is this life? 

The pursuit for wealth or the desire for approval and affirmation? 

The changing of attires and adornment with lovely apparels? The clamoring for power or the defeat that comes from the loss of it? Could it be the fulfillment that comes from doing good or the reward for the good done?

Dare I say the reward that comes to an offender?  Could it be a satisfaction that comes from besting ones contemporaries or the meeting of set timelines? What if it’s just a pocketful of lessons or the fellowshipping of man with his Creator? What if we looked at life as a travel in space and time? I haven’t found a singular definition for the term ‘life’. 

But with so much certainty, I can say that ‘life’ transcends just a satisfaction of the belly, or possession of lovely apparel or a power tussle. It surpasses emotions and any kind of feeling. In my simplest knowledge, I’ll say it is a sense of satisfaction and fulfillment that comes from making others happy. 

There is this tingling that comes up in the heart when another’s need is met, whatsoever  the need might be. Yes, the phenomenon ‘life’ is time-bound. So, why can’t a man’s objectives be morphed into a big ball that aims at putting a smile on another’s face? 

I mean it doesn’t always have to be about self.
