Vintage devotional (Should we be at peace in Zion)

 Day 7

Should we be at peace in Zion??

They said to me “Things are not going well for those who returned to the province of Judah, they are in great trouble and disgrace. The wall of Jerusalem has been torn down, and the gates have been destroyed by fire. When I heard this, I sat down and wept. In fact, for days I mourned,  fasted and prayed to the God of heaven

Nehe 1: 3~4

The breakout of the Owo crisis our nation is facing has provoked my reconsidering of what the vintage devotional would address this month.

Our lands have been spilled with blood, children are Murdered and people are killed in cold blood without the consideration of what their families would feel. We have been praying for our nation but now is the time we must take it personal.

Nehemiah our Bible study character became faced with the devastation of his country while in Susa. It shouldn’t have bordered him because it had no direct repercussion on him but he decided to move beyond himself to identify with the problems his land was facing. This is the time we must let go of our selfish pursuits so we can seek God genuinely for our nation.

After hearing about the challenges in Jerusalem, Nehemiah sat down and wept. This is not a period of rejoicing  but a time when we have to really humble ourselves before the lord and seek his intervention. The next thing Nehemiah did was that he prayed and fasted before the lord, he broke down in distress and sought the face of the Lord.

Please don’t be at peace in Zion, in times past, we heard about slaughtering and persevering disaster in the North, now it is right under our nostrils. Who knows where the next conflicting situation would arise. Let us pray!!

Prayer points

Dear Father, we are sorry for our complacency in the place of praying for Our country. Lord we ask for renewed strength and vitality to stand in the gap for our nation. Help us to seek you with the right intentions and in the right way In Jesus name. Amen
