 Day 5

Association

Think now, “he says, who that was innocent ever perished? Or where were the upright cut off? As I have seen, those who plow iniquity and sow trouble reap the same.

Job 4:7-8

The verse above is a conversation between Job and his friend. In this verse, Job was being blamed for the problems he was undergoing. As Job tried to protest his innocence; Job’s friend continually said that if he was blameless, he wouldn’t be facing such distress.

One major thing Job failed at was in the choice of his association. The friends he had could not comprehend or identify with his misery. In their confusion, they continually questioned the integrity and purity of his heart.

We must realize that our friends are important in determining the direction of our lives. There’s a proverb that says “show me your friend and I will tell you who you are”. A friend is a person who doesn’t just celebrate your successes but also helps you through very sad situations.

In our search for true friends, we must ask the Lord to lead our hearts. Do not pick friends because of their status, and class in the society. Pick friends that can stand with you irrespective of persevering conditions.

Job failed at the choice of his friends but I pray you would choose the right friends who would help you through your path way in life.

Prayer

Father help me make right choices when I pick my friends in Jesus name.
